Freaky Dream!

Okay, so I grabbed a quick nap this afternoon after posting today's pics. While I was dozing, I must have slipped into R.E.M. dream state because I was absolutely convinced we'd been hacked...and when I logged back on, Ohno Zone had been completely redesigned and revamped, and Noelle and I couldn't access the backend! When I woke up from my nap, I was relieved to see the OZ "Big Orange" still intact! Whew! Silly, I know...but have y'all had weird OZ/speedskating dreams??!?

Wendy poses a very interesting question..., so let's say one of the major movie studios is producing a picture about this past season of Short Track. Who would you cast as the skaters, coaches, etc? Discuss!

July 15, 2003

So, I am trying to spread out the goods for a few days here. It's the hazy days of summer, and the AAO pics don't show up on the wire as often as they do in season. Fear not, though, for we do have a few left in our files. Make sure you send me anything you might want to share with the rest of the gang.

Update from Susan G.

"In Apolo's Name" Project Keeps On Giving

At the recent "Passage to Paradise" fundraiser in San Francisco Ted and Susan G.
sat with an elderly Japanese couple. Mrs. K, a children's librarian with the San
Franciso Public Library, was there to celebrate her 70th birthday. She also
hoped to get Apolo's signature on "Going For The Gold" for a summer book raffle.
Ted offered to do that, but Apolo said he couldn't sign the book. He asked Ted
to send Yuki a copy of a book he had written and promised to sign that.

Susan G received an E-Mail from a fan who heard about the raffle. Fans (108)
raised over $11,000 "In Apolo's Name" last year and gained a room in his name at
the new Ronald McDonald House, currently under construction in Seattle. Part of
those efforts included the auction on E-Bay of a signed copy of "A Journey."
This fan was the winner of one of those auctions, and after careful thought
decided that she wanted to donate her book to Mrs. K's children's book raffle.

Mr. and Mrs. K received the book July 7th and write as follows: "We just received
Apolo's book; it's beautiful. S.... plans to open the raffle to every deserving
child in the city. It will be quite a prize and a promotion for reading." Once
again Apolo's fans show tremendous generosity of heart and give an opportunity
for yet more people to know more about him and his "Journey.".

Props to Anonymous Benefactor!

Hey gang! I hope you're all having a great weekend! I will be updating and hanging out so that Noelle can have some well-deserved rest. Plus, I have the bonus of driving this bus for awhile, so I am excited to be back posting!
