Speedskating Canada | Lots of Action on Day 1 of the Fall World Cup Selection in Short Track Speed Skating

The first four athletes (two male, two female) will be named to Canada's World Cup team at the conclusion of racing in today's racing.

Canada's skaters are competing in the Pacific Coliseum, which will be the venue for short track and figure skating at the 2010 Vancouver Games. Also,lickets for the Oct. 24-26 World Cup in Vancouver are on sale now, or visit the web site for the World Cup.

Canadian Team Trials, day 1 - 500m #1

Not-quite-live from Vancouver, it's Canadian correspondent Lewis Kazagger with updates from the races taking place there starting today. The Canucks are skating 2 distances/day and doing each distance twice. The men's competition is predicted to be quite tense, while the women are wide open with both Kalyna Roberge and Amanda Overland out with injuries. In advance of this writing, Tania Vicent was doubtful to compete as well.
