Tallahassee Democrat | Lobello experiments with long-track speedskating

He doesn't plan to abandon short track, though, Anthony Lobello said. In fact, he'll spend January training for the short-track team trials. He's currently ranked fifth in the nation in short track, but he can only keep his spot by placing fifth or better at each of three team qualifiers held during an eight-month period.

In his quest to join a short list of speedskaters who have made the short- and long-track teams, Lobello placed sixth in the 1,000-meter race, just one spot shy of making the cut. He was ninth in the 500-meter race.
