Alex Izy inspires the next generation of Michigan skaters
Bay City Times | Date with a skater
Alex Izykowski, who was part of the bronze medal-winning 5,000-meter relay team in Turin, Italy, joined fans at the Bay County Civic Arena on Thursday for an open skate. He signed autographs and talked to young speedskaters just starting in the sport.''I know it would have been cool for me to meet an Olympian when I was that age,'' Izykowski said, ''so I hope it's cool for the kids here.''
Tanner Smith of Bay City looks up to Izykowski as a role model. In his bedroom, the 10-year-old has what his father calls a ''shrine of Izy.''Izykowski is still in awe over the local celebrity status he has here.

Steven Bradbury preparing to go fast, turn left again
At least, I think they turn left in auto racing. :-P
Fox Sports | Bradbury's career change
Steven Bradbury, who became Australia's first Olympic Winter Games gold medal winner at Salt Lake City in 2002, hopes to become a motor sport champion."I love anything that goes fast," Bradbury said yesterday. "I'm hoping I will be able to channel a lot of the energy I used to have for speed skating into motor racing. I want to have some of those feelings which I haven't had for a few years and I'm hoping motor racing could be the next big thing for me."

Halie Kim trades her skinsuit for hip waders
Here's Halie Kim like we've never seen her before. Ryan Bedford recently got some new fly fishing gear and Halie decided she had to try it all on for fun. All photos taken at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, courtesy of Jordan Malone.
Halie dreams that a river runs through Ryan and Jordan's suite

Ryan and Jordan Malone bet Halie that she wouldn't wear her duds down to the cafeteria at the OTC. Looks like Halie won that bet! Here she is in the cafeteria, along with Ryan and Tina Koenig.
Halie wonders what exactly she's got herself into!

Hee hee. She's such a cutie! I love these shots! Many thanks to Jordan for the photos, and to Halie for being such a great sport!
