U.S. ST Championships - tickets going fast!

Marquette Mining Journal | Speedskaters promote Olympic trials to be held in Marquette this month

Students at Father Marquette Middle School received a lesson Wednesday they couldn't simply skate through. Three short track speedskaters from the United States Olympic Education Center and coach Tricia Stennes were at the Marquette school as part of a travelling presentation designed to introduce the sport to area youth and promote this month's U.S. Short Track Speedskating Championships to be held in Marquette.

Be aware that tickets are going fast for the championships. USS reports that 80% of tix have already been sold, so if you're planning to attend, you might not want to wait till the week of to buy your tickets. Get ticket info here

With this level of attendance, the Berry Events Center should be rocking! They promise to have live entertainment again as they did during the 2003 World Cup so expect a lively atmosphere during and in between races.

Poll: What Olympic sport interests you the most?

In a current NBC web site poll on this topic, speed skating is getting its a$$ kicked by the likes of cross-country skiing and biathlon -- not to mention curling! Speed skating has just 1% of the vote, hopefully faithful OZers can fix that. Have at it, folks!

In other news, Torino organizers unveiled the designs for Winter Olympic medals today. Aren't they gorgeous?

Though I'm suddenly craving a bagel at midnight...

Bridie Farrell blogs on USA Today

This is very cool - Bridie is blogging her quest to make the U.S. Olympic Team for USA Today. She started the blog this month and so far has written about competitions in Chicoutimi, at American Cup 2, as well as her social life (or lack thereof) and preps for Marquette.

Check out her USA Today blog: Will Bridie Make It?
