Tiggie's Beijing report

greatwall_300.jpg We are lucky to be able to continue living the Beijing experience vicariously, this time through Tiggie's report on her experiences in China. Just like she did last December in Saguenay, Tiggie was able to squeeze in a lot of sightseeing -- but it sounds like her most memorable moments took place on the ice.

Read Tiggie's report.

Junko's Beijing report

Many thanks to Junko for writing up a detailed report of her adventures in Beijing. Here's what's inside: What it's like to watch short track live in China, all about Apolo's and the U.S. skaters' amazing races, an unexpected person offers sympathy on Apolo's 1500m DQ, and banquet photos! Read Junko's report.

Wherever Junko goes, handsome men appear. Here she is with two of Canada's finest (Guilmette and Tremblay).

Coming later this week:
+ Tiggie's Beijing report
+ Kimo and Jan's Beijing photos

Results from the North American Short Track Championships

[updated Monday night] Full North Americans results now available here.

The season drew to a close this weekend with the North American Championships at the Pettit in Milwaukee.

Congratulations go out to Jordan Malone, who swept all the distances in his division (senior men), just days after returning home from the World Championships in China. Jordan may be the only World Team member competing in Milwaukee, as he is looking to get as much ice time and racing under his belt as possible.

A big surprise among senior women was the presence of Olympic silver and bronze medalist Amy Peterson, a legend of U.S. short track! She finished 2nd in her division. Amy is a 5-time Olympian and had the honor of being selected as flag-bearer during the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. Is she mounting a comeback at the advanced age of 33, or just having fun?

Senior men overall results: 1. Jordan Malone (4000 pts), 2. Adam Duncan (1890 pts), 3. Levi Sinak (1525 pts)

Senior women overall results: 1. Cherise Wilkins (2650 pts), 2. Amy Peterson (2600 pts), 3. Tina Koenig (2091 pts)

Kyle Carr and Ryan Bedford competed in the intermediate men division (not sure why this and not seniors). Congratulations to Kyle on winning the overall title for intermediate men. He reportedly faced some stiff competition from the Canadian skaters. SoCal's Joey Lindsey was 3rd overall in junior men.
