Seems that Apolo was doing plenty of ice maintenace in Madison as well! Thanks to Trisha for this shot.

caption by Trisha: Apolo seemed bound and determined not to let the ladies do any of the manual labor as he confiscated a bucket from Li Yan at one point and from the Bridie and Allison duo at another point.

USA Today | More male athletes find root of expression in their hair
Long article today about the growing trend among male athletes to express themselves with their hair, calling them 'hair divas.' But not all of them fall into the high maintenance category:
Some athletes say their hair signifies impatience. Apolo Anton Ohno, the Olympic gold medal-winning short-track speedskater, gets so consumed in training that he couldn't care less about his hair. "When I'm in the zone, physical appearance is second," he says.
It wouldn't be such a big deal except that his dad, Yuki, owns a salon in Seattle. "He tries all the time to make me more conscious of hair products. But I say, 'Dad, conditioner just doesn't matter to me.' "
In Apolo's case anyway, low maintenance yields spectacular results!

Video clip: Apolo interview in Madison
Thanks again to Sonia and Maggie for providing this clip from an interview a local reporter conducted with Apolo in Madison.
Download the clip here. Remember to rename it from .clip to .wmv after you download!
NOTE: The next videos to come will be the exciting WC #1 and WC #2 races from China. Sonia/SusanL is asking for 12-15 6-8 more OZ friends to donate $3-5 to help cover the hard costs of converting those tapes (and future tapes from March Worlds) from the PAL format so that we can view them here on OZ. Please email Sonia here if you enjoy race clips and would like to contribute.

A few notes on photos
I took about 6000 photos in Saguenay. Many of those 6000 were too poor to keep -- but still, I have a lot of photos!
I hope I won't be posting Saguenay photos 9 months from now, like with Sweden... but it will take a while to sort and post them all the same. So I'm trying to get a head start by creating multiple Saguenay galleries simultaneously. They're being updated regularly; check back often!
So far the following photo galleries for Saguenay are available:
- Saguenay Practice Day: Photos of U.S. team practice on Thursday; a few scenes from the spectacular opening ceremonies
- Canadian Team in Saguenay: It's time for a gallery devoted to the Canadian team, as I have many photos of them, and OZ has more and more Canadian readers
- Saguenay race gallery #1: For now this just has Turcotte-Ohno 1000m final scenes, but eventually it will become the gallery for Day 1 race highlights.
- Madison Highlights gallery: Nearing completion, but more still to be added from all the great contributions sent in by OZ readers!
As always, the best Apolo shots will continue to be posted here first before going into the galleries.
