Casey FitzRandolph on the issue of doping
Doping has been all over the news lately as prominent names among U.S. track athletes and Summer Games hopefuls are accused of using performance-enhancing drugs. U.S. long track skater Casey FitzRandolph recently discussed doping with The Capital Times of Madison, WI. The article describes how Casey recently underwent a 'no-advance-notice' drug test, something all U.S. national team skaters are subject to. They are supposed to keep the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency informed of their whereabouts at all times for this purpose.
Casey takes a tough line on athletes who use illegal substances:
'I find myself cheering for them to bust people, because there's no doubt there have been a lot of people who have won Olympic gold medals that didn't deserve to do so.'
FitzRandolph is fairly certain speedskating is generally clean. But it wasn't always so.
