USS Spring Board Meeting

1. Attention short track fans: US Speedskating has posted the schedule and agenda for its spring board meeting next weekend in Anaheim, CA.

Remember, these meetings are open to the public and Andy Gabel has encouraged all interested fans to attend. I

- short track committee, Friday 4/25 at 9am
- competition committee, Frday 4/25 at 3pm
- budget committee, Friday 4/25 at 4pm
- coaches' committee, Friday 4/25 at 4:30pm

2. Tony Goskowicz's report to the board is interesting. You'll hear echoes from Stephen Gough's interview.

3. Jack Mortell takes note of the fan support that short track enjoyed this season in his board report. (That would be US!)

4. PR Director Bill Kellick devoted an entire section of his board report to us, the fans (see 'public relations' section). Here is a quote:

In addition, Bill plans some enhancements to USS' web site, which I think we all endorse.

5. Finally, there has been discussion of USS's mission as a result of Stephen Gough's interview. You can read the new mission statement at the end of Katie Marquard's board report.

Stephen Gough Exit Interview

aaogough.jpg

I was able to interview Stephen Gough during the last week, at length and on a variety of topics, including his recent sudden resignation. Many thanks to Stephen for his thoughtfulness in answering these questions at a difficult time.

While this interview is quite long, I think and hope you'll find it rewarding. It is organized into four sections on five pages, as follows:

The Korea Times has an article on Chad Hedrick, the former inline champion who switched to ice (LT) this past season. Mentions Apolo as having also made the switch from inline to ice.
