hi Todd, here is my own version of Apolo comic strips :P
um, the plot isn't much, but here it is: a secret agent aka "blue bandanna" must stop the evil scientist "Sore Loser" from destroying the world. He uses his special Superskate move to kick the bad guy's a$$ and wins the lucky girl's heart.
hahaha i know it is really dumb Hollywood plot, but that's all i could come up with at 2 am
As a favor to Navjot who has designed several logos for us here at the OZ, I agreed to post her email regarding an AAO items she'd like to sell:

OMG! HYSTERICAL! Everybody run right over to Dark Blades and check it out! (Props to our noL [that's Noelle's new code name] for sharing). Point of note: this is a humor site and definitely off-color. Anyone under 18 or faint of heart prolly should stay within the safe confines of the Ohno Zone.
With much fanfare, I am happy to present the Ohno Zone 200th photo posted! This one is from the Today Show series which, as we all know, are phine. Thanks Chi-Town Lyn for sending!

Here's some Sports Illustrated info submitted by Tonya, Dara and Tahmina, separately:
There is a little "blurb" on Apolo in the April 8 issue of Sports Illustrated (Mighty Maryland is on the front). It says: Does Apolo Ohno know comedy? (Hey, we already know he can do a fall.) Apparently so. Last week the speed skater made his acting debut by filming a bit for JKX: The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, a candid camera-esque comedy show on the WB. In the segment (which will air in May), Kennedy, disguised as a limo driver, picks up Ohno and his friend David Creswell in order to drive them to a photo shoot. Kennedy then reveals his incompetence as a chauffeur through a series of gags: getting lost, smoking in the car, threatening to drive the vehicle off a cliff, etc. Ohno, who's in on the joke, stays deadpan throughout until he finally lets Creswell know what's going on. Said Kennedy of Ohno's performance," He kept a straight face, plus he's a good-looking kid. He could have a future in acting." Anyone who saw the 1,500-meter short track final in Salt Lake could have told you that.
Hi everyone! I'm in the midst of processing a ton of great new pics and links, so if you sent something in, bear with me...I promise I'll get to it within the next day or so. You are all doing a terrific job of finding terrific new stuff we've never seen! Y'all amaze me!! Also, a quick reminder...if you send pics or art, please send as an attachment only. Thanks!! :)
This little blurb appears in the April 5, 2002 issue of Entertainment Weekly - sorry I don't have a direct link b/c I can't find it online. Even Kevin Spacey loves our man! ELTON JOHN/IN STYLE MOOMBA Sir Elton shrewdly consolidated his festivities this year, celebrating his 55th birthday while hosting his annual celeb-strewn Oscar bash. ROOM WITH NO VIEW The VIP room was the party's heart and soul: A-listers like Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, and the triumphant Halle Berry made a beeline for the basement sanctuary, where John was lord and master. (Even Donatella Versace had a tough time penetrating the inner sanctum.) MIDNIGHT AT THE APOLO The man everyone wanted to meet (especially Oscar winner Kevin Spacey) Olympic gold-medal skater Apolo Anton Ohno. So has the immortal Apolo always been an Oscar fan? "Sometimes," he noted. "When I had time, I tried to [watch]." Oh, no!
"I'm pretty sure the white house thing is may 19. it's the day after they honor the olympic team in salt lake city, and that's gonna be on nbc may 18 at 3:30pm eastern"...."The event is actually taking place on April 22nd, but it'll be on TV (NBC, I think) on May 18th."
Noelle, welcome back after your few days away from the OZ...I can just imagine you checkin' back thru the archives...seeing all the pics and comments you missed...hee hee. That must be why all my bandwidth is pinging toward DC...LOL. Just kiddin! We all welcome you back!! mwah!

Hey just heard of a book about Apolo it is called Going for the Gold: Apolo Anton Ohno by Thomas Lang! it comes out April 18th but you can pre-order it at Barnesandnoble.com! Post this on the site so everybody will know! -Shana
Well this is what I found out about that Superstar comp. Montego Bay is in Jamaica, it aired last year on May 27, athletes competed last year in these events: bowling, bicycle race, half-mile run, basketball shoot-out, weightlifting, kayaking, swimming, sea-doo race, 100-yard dash, and an obstacle course. This is a cool comp. I have seen it before, it involves not only Olympians but other athletes. It also airs on ABC. I guess the time and events will probably be the same. Hope this helps.
